Born in Kolkata and settled in Pondichery, Aju Mukhopadhyay (Alias A. K. Mukerji) is a bilingual multiple award winning poet, author and critic. His educational qualifications are: M.A. in English, B. Com, C.A.I.I.B, C.I.F, Diploma in French, Diploma in Book Publishing, Pragya in Hindi and Certificate in Sanskrit.
He has authored 36 books including ten books of poems, three books of short stories and one novel in English besides 12 books in Bengali. In quite some international literary journals his poems have been posted on invitation as a World Poet. He is a regular contributor to various Journals and magazines in India and abroad. He is in the editorial and advisory board of several important literary journals in India. His poems and short stories including Japanese short verses have been widely anthologised and translated in many international languages. He is published as writer of Literature, Wildlife, Nature and Environment. He has participated in more than 50 national and international conferences and festivals on poetry, literature and environment. He has published large numbers of essays in magazines, books and other websites. His book titled On Consciousness, Spirituality and Philosophy was published on invitation by the International publisher, Omniscriptum /Lap Lambert group of European Publishers.
Once a second prize winner in short story, his stories are published in several Indian magazines like Indian Literature (Sahitya Akademi), international e-zine like Setu, Indo-Australian book of short stories. Many of his stories have been anthologised like "Einfach menschlich" (Simply Human), an anthology of Indian short stories in German language.
